Page compression

Saurus CMS can be configured to use gzip compression of page output. This speeds up significantly the page transfer over network, specially on pages with longer text or complex HTML code. Pages with limited graphics or images can take up to 10% of original size.

Configuration
Go to Admin > System > Configuration and find value “GZIP compress level”. The default value is 0 which means compression is not used.

Older browsers which do not support compression are automatically detected by web server and this option is not executed.

Limitations
Some Internet Explorer versions have a bug which displays an empty page when gzip is used with some site encodings such as UTF-8.
