Saurus CMS covers the features of content management, site administration and development of the web site.

For editors

The editor environment is easy to learn and use. You'll find WYSIWYG editor, onsite editing buttons, central file manager and more.

  • Onsite-editing - edit and manage content directly on the actual web pages using simple editor toolbar.
  • Staging - draft your content before publishing it on the web.
  • WYSIWYG/HTML article editor - edit content in rich-text or HTML view.
  • File management - upload any type of file to the web server and manage them using the file management tool. You can use either your browser to upload files or any FTP client.
  • Feedback forms - a site editor can create any type of feedback forms, which sends results to given e-mail address.
  • Recycle bin -  you can restore deleted content: articles and even whole sections.
  • Scheduled publishing - publish articles or whole sections on predefined dates.
  • Built-in content templates - Saurus CMS comes with a variety of handy content templates like the article list, news with archive, discussion board, polls with archive, image galleries etc.  
  • Search and sitemap - simple full-text and advanced search with all logical operators and multiple filtering options. Automatic sitemap with configuration options.
  • Comment boards - users can add comments to the articles, documents, images etc. Editor can define whether the content object has comment board or not.
  • User friendly URLs - custom names like www.sitename.com/products.
  • Newslist - every section of the website can have it's own newslist. If editor adds new content to that section, an e-mail will be sent to subscribers

For administrators

In the administrator interface youŽll find flexible and yet powerful user and permission manager, central style manager, site log and much more.

  • Editors and administrators - unlimited number of editors and administrators with different access rights.
  • Role-based access control - administrators can control allowed actions based on each editor's role.
  • Registered web site visitors - visitors can register on the web site or be registered by the administrator. Registered visitors may have different access rights. Registered users can also be authenticated using their IP-address.
  • Content audit/Site log - keep track on every action editors make using the logging tool. 
  • Multilingual web sites - you can create an unlimited number of language versions.
  • Multilingual software - translate the whole software to any language. Editors can choose their preferable language in the login-panel.
  • Language-file import - add a new language by importing new language file.
  • Page compression - Saurus CMS sends compressed web pages to the browser making a web site load faster than ever.
  • Cache - Saurus CMS has its own cache module which creates "snapshots" of the dynamic pages thus allowing to save whole page under one SQL query. This improves database performance and page loading times significantly.
  • LDAP support - authorization of editors based on LDAP server. Authorization of visitors based on IP-address.
  • IP-filter - block the access to the site or to the editing environment using IP-numbers or ranges.

For developers

Saurus CMS is based on open standards. The developers can create various web applications using Saurus API layer. Our XML interface allows you to exchange data between any third party application.

  • Web-based installation - simple step-by-step visual installation guide helps you through the site setup process.
  • Templates - the user interface of the web site is based on design templates, which consist of regular HTML-code, Saurus API code and/or PHP.
  • Saurus API - develop custom templates or integrate third party applications into Saurus CMS. You can use JavaScript, PHP-code, Smarty-code etc to create unlimited number of different applications within Saurus CMS framework. 
  • WAP/WML support - using Saurus CMS you can also develop mobile sites. 
  • XML/RSS support - import articles, registered users and database objects from external XML-file or RSS-feed. Export database contents to XML-file.
  • Custom assets - develop your own content objects with intuitive web based interface.
  • Replication - exchange content between two or more Saurus CMS based websites.
  • Single-sign-on - single-sign-on. Pass authorization information to integrated applications.
